Dr Cook qualified and worked as a General Practitioner in the UK after undertaking positions as a psychiatric and paediatric doctor. Her experience also includes that in community psychiatry and as a Community Health Doctor in England, helping to maintain children with medical needs in mainstream school. She emigrated to Hong Kong in 2002 with her four young girls, so has first-hand knowledge of the issues faced by children moving overseas. Two of her daughters are now teenagers so have experienced both the benefits and concerns of growing up in Hong Kong, as well as those faced by “third culture kids”. In Hong Kong Dr Cook has had direct experience of the education system by assisting at her children’s school. Her experience here has included work on patient education as well on medical and academic publications. At the Child and Family Centre her knowledge and experience will be used to facilitate the provision of services to the client population, as well as to serve as a Qualified Cogmed Coach, helping children and adults to improve attention and working memory. |
